2008 HOLYOKE CUP RACE DETAILS:

40K Marathon Pro Kayak Race at 12:00pm

World class paddlers including several former US and Canadian team members will compete over a marathon course from Holyoke to Springfield and back.

The event will be held on a loop course on the Connecticut River. The course is set on flat water with minimal current. The course is safe for under-stern rudders. The river is usually calm but wind and rain can cause significant current and waves. The race will be approximately 38 kilometers and will include 3 portages of approximately 300 meters each. Winning time in 2007 was 2:55. This was a course record! Athletes will be racing for a minimum cash purse of $2,000. The top 3 female racers will receive the same cash prizes as the men.

All single kayaks and surf skis are welcome to compete. Cash prizes will be paid only to kayaks meeting ICF or touring class specs. Please contact Joe Shaw 76jps@alumni.williams.edu with any questions regarding this rule.

Entry Fee: $45 if paid by October 1. $60 if paid after that date.
