Holyoke Rows offers a wide range of programs for people of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. We welcome newcomers or anyone who wants to jump back in a boat! We also offer opportunities for rowers of all levels to compete in regattas throughout the season.
For Beginners
Holyoke Rows offers rowing during the school year for both new and experienced rowers in 7th – 12th grade (12 – 18 years old) from the greater Western Massachusetts area, as well as half-day summer programs for ages 7 and up.
Adult beginners can join drop-in sculling Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:30pm – 7:15pm In addition, check out our programing specifically for Veterans, and our adaptive programs. Feel free to contact us for more information 320-3134.
Experienced Sweep Rowing (Masters)
If you have ever rowed before you are eligible to join our adult evening sweep program. We are a mixed group of men and women of all ages, fitness levels and skills. We love new folks so don’t worry if it takes you a while to get back up to speed, we are very patient!
Days & Times:
to accommodate our shift to sculling we are offering our sweep rowers 3 additional shifts of practice. Please continue to use google docs to sign up for a class as we cannot have more than 6 people at a practice.
M,W, F mornings, 6am shift and an 8am shift
Tues/Thursday evenings 4:30pm shift and 6:00pm shift As well as a Saturday morning 7:30 and 9:00am shifts.

We have stable boats with pontoons to accommodate new scullers. COME OUT - YOU will love it!

Winter Erging
Heading indoors in the winter means more time to pay attention to body mechanics, drive sequence, and building strength and speed. Everyone is welcome, equipment provided.
Days & Times:
- To try to accommodate everyone’s busy schedule, masters are welcome during dragon boat sessions and vice versa.
- Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm to 7pm and on Saturdays from 7:30am to 9am. (Masters Rowers)
- Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 7:30 pm. (Dragon Boaters)
